Sonography Education in Georgia
In 2017, there is a nice choice of eight CAAHEP accredited sonography schools located in the exciting city of Atlanta and several smaller cities scattered around the state. Students can earn a certificate in the well-known Grady Health System in Atlanta. The remaining schools offer diplomas, associate and bachelor degrees. It is possible to earn a generalized degree or specialize in the areas of cardiac sonography or vascular sonography. The field of ultrasound technology is rapidly growing because it is non-invasive. With appropriate training and access to the right equipment, sonographers can work almost anywhere in the state, including in hospitals, outpatient medical centers, freestanding clinics, and mobile units serving rural areas. Upon training completion, it is important to register with the ARDMS to increase employment opportunities.
