Education for Sonography Students in Alabama in 2018

In 2018, Diagnostic Medical Sonography students can attend one of five schools in Alabama that offer CAAHEP accredited programs in diagnostic medical sonography. At four of the five sonography schools in Alabama, it is possible to earn an Associate Degree with a general concentration. The fifth school offers a program leading to Certification in Diagnostic Medical Technology, also with a general concentration. One school in Birmingham offers a choice of a general or a vascular concentration. CAAHEP accredited training programs teach students hands-on skills and knowledge in sonography. The degree or certificate, combined with an ultrasound certification provided by ARDMS, will lead to many employment opportunities in the United States.
