Students successfully graduating from H. Councill Trenholm State Community College can earn the Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential through ARDMS examinations. It is necessary to take the Sonography Principles & Instrumentation Examination (SPI) and a specialty exam like abdomen (AB), breast (BR), obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) to get sonography certification before looking at ultrasound jobs. Once certified, a sonographer must complete ultrasound CMEs for renewing his or her sonography certificate.
