Connecticut’s Department of Public Health is aggressively pursuing the increase of public access to quality health care. Just recently, a number of new imaging centers were certified, indicating a trend towards outpatient services that will increase the need for ultrasound technicians.

There are 2 schools in Connecticut offering accredited ultrasound or sonography programs in 2017. Your choices include Certificates, and an Associate Degree. Yale-New Haven Hospital is located in New Haven offering CAAHEP accredited Certificate programs in cardiac sonography and general sonography, and non-accredited programs in Pediatric Echocardiography and Vascular Sonography. Gateway Community College is newly accredited by the CAAHEP. The college offers an Associate Degree in vascular sonography and general sonography. Though there are only two accredited sonography schools in Connecticut, the jobs are spread around the state and include other metro areas like Waterbury, Norwich, Danbury and Bridgeport. Obtaining ARDMS certification after completing sonography training is highly recommended to improve job opportunities and beginning salary.
