Sonography Education and Training in Kansas

In 2017, two of the five largest cities in Kansas have CAAHEP accredited ultrasound technician schools – Kansas City and Topeka. A third accredited sonography program is in Parsons, Kansas. Diagnostic Medical Sonography students have a number of certificate choices. For example, ultrasound technology students can choose to earn a certificate in general sonography, cardiac sonography or vascular sonography. The final step before starting on a successful career path is earning the ARDMS credential by passing the ARDMS exams. Depending on the program chosen, it is possible that students complete much of the didactic coursework via distance learning and then complete the clinical portion requirements at one of a variety of medical facilities.
