There is a well-developed system of hospitals, clinics, physician offices and research facilities offering excellent employment opportunities for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer professionals and networking opportunities for students.

Sonography students have a choice of certificate, Associate degree and Bachelor degree with a specialization concentration in general sonography, cardiac sonography or vascular sonography.

Attending CAAHEP accredited sonography programs is important, even if it requires commuting, because the programs have been reviewed for the quality of their requirements and how well the coursework and clinical training prepares students to take the ARDMS exams. Financial assistance is available in the form of federal and state student loans, but sonography scholarships are ideal because they do not have to be repaid.
