Sonography Educational Programs in South Carolina
Ultrasound technology students can select to attend one of two accredited CAAHEP sonography schools in South Carolina in 2016 for classroom and clinical training. Both schools are technical colleges. Greenville Technical College offers an Associate degree in general sonography. Horry Georgetown Technical College offers a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program that leads to a certificate in general sonography. It is important to become an ARDMS registered sonographer because the credential gives employers the assurances they want that students have mastered the classroom and clinical training.
Salaries and Career Outlook for Sonographers in South Carolina
The average salary for sonographers in South Carolina was $59,050, making it one of the lower paying states for this profession as of 2015. However, statistics also show that employment growth in terms of number of jobs is expected to be very good.
