Though called the “Crossroads of the American Revolution”, New Jersey is thoroughly modern. The state offers a quality lifestyle with plenty of things to do and places to go, including the famous Jersey Shore and a lively nightlife. New Jersey’s health care system has received national recognition for its efforts to provide patient-centered, integrative care. The state provides a very supportive educational and work environment for the ultrasound technician.
Ultrasound Technician Education in New Jersey in 2017
CAAHEP, a premier accrediting agency, recognizes several New Jersey accredited sonography schools situated in various New Jersey cities. There are also ARRT recognized sonography programs in Northern New Jersey. The certificate is earned by training at a hospital, vocational or educational institution, or in the Armed Forces. The Associates degree or Bachelors degree can be earned by attending a program at a college or university. The schools offer a general sonography concentration including obstetrics and gynecology, or a cardiac sonography concentration. The State of New Jersey currently does not require a license to perform ultrasound procedures. However, it is one of the states that has discussed requiring licensing and may choose to do so in the near future. As a minimum, it is important to become ARDMS certified to prove possession of the necessary ultrasound technology skills and knowledge that meet nationally recognized standards.
